| I Remember You "On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the
night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me." Psalm
63:6-8

Often when we have troubling times in our lives,
sleep seems to evade us; we find ourselves tossing and turning. David has something to
teach us in this Psalm. Through the watches of the night, David put his trust in God. He
did not use the time of sleeplessness to fret and worry, but to remember the times when
the Lord delivered him from his enemies. We, like David, can spend our sleepless nights in
precious communion with the one who can save us, the one who can fill us with peace. It is
through times of trouble that the Lord shows each of us that He is worthy of our trust,
that He is faithful! In the stillness of the night, we can pour out our hearts to Him and
know that He not only hears us, but is at that very moment working out our deliverance.
That deliverance may not come in the manner that we think it should, but we can trust Him
to deliver us in His own way and in His own time. Our job is to trust Him, and because of
what He has done for us in the past, we can have full assurance that He is our help in the
present time of need. Like David, we, too, can sing because we have the assurance that no
matter what befalls us, we are under the protection of His wings. There is no other place
on earth that we would rather be, dear Lord, than under your wings. Our soul clings to
you, Father, and your right hand upholds us. Thank you, Father, for your protection and
the assurance of your help. May we, as David of old, find our hearts singing because of
all you have done for us in the past, and for all we know that you will do for us in the
days ahead! Amen.
Father, as we fall into slumber at night, remind us of all You have
done for us that day. Let us sing Your praises for seeing us through
another day and for all You have done to help us. So often, the
worries of the day come to mind as we close our eyes, dear Lord. Help
us to put those thoughts away instead by thinking about Your
faithfulness to us. Help us to trust You more and more each day. We
ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
