| Love that Surpasses Knowledge "I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power,
together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of
Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge..." Eph. 3:17-19

Love is the soil in which we must grow if we hope to be rooted and established in
Christ Jesus. It is from this love that we derive all the nourishment which is essential
for our full growth, that we might have the mind in us that was in Christ Jesus. If our
roots grow deep into this love, we will be so established that no storm will uproot us,
and no wind shake us from our standing in Christ. This love of Christ reaches deep down
into our hearts and takes root there, establishing us in Him. Though this love of Christ
is beyond our comprehension, and we may never be able to totally appreciate all that
Christs love for us entailed, the small taste we have in this life is more than
enough. Christs love is deeper than our roots can ever reach. It doesn't matter how
far our roots reach, there they will find Christs love. It is by sharing our
experiences of how Christ works in our lives with other saints that we begin to grasp the
vastness of His love for us. As Paul puts it, we begin to "grasp how wide and long
and high and deep is the love of Christ..." This love knew no boundaries, knew no
limits, reached us while we were yet sinners, and lifted us up out of the miry clay of sin
and set us down in the soil of His love. Here we can root ourselves, here we can grow.
This is what Paul was praying for, that the church might work together to know this love
of Christ, firmly planting themselves therein. When His people establish themselves in
Christ's love, the growth potential is limitless. So sink your roots down deep into the
love of Christ and never let go of the wonder of His love!
Father, root us in love and help us to send those roots down deep
that they might be established and firm in the love of Christ. Let that
love nourish us and help us to flourish. May the love of Christ flow
through us to all with whom we come in contact. This is our prayer.
Amen
