When we give ourselves in total dependence to Jehovah we gain both strength and a sure footed confidence that will take us up to the heights. With the swiftness of a deer in flight, we can rapidly ascend to a place of safety when danger sounds itself. We can do this because the Sovereign LORD is our strength. As we look to Him, we gain inner strength that can only be seen as belonging to Him. As Isaiah 40:31 says, he will exchange our strength (or lack thereof) for His. He has made our feet like that of a deer, he has given our feet the surefootedness and speed possessed by a gazelle. He has enabled us to go to the heights. This is only possible because of Him. How thankful we should be that He cares for us so! His desire for us is that of safety. He gives us escape from our enemies and gives us security in the high places with Him. Indeed, we are blessed to have a Father who cares for us so. Let us remember the next time that danger sounds in our lives that He has given us both the strength and the ability to find safety in Him. Let us run with all our might to the heavenly places where we can find safety and comfort in His arms!
