"I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe..." Ephesians 1:18, 19

 What is the hope to which we have been called? Ephesians tells us this hope is that we, the saints, are HIS inheritance. How can this be? How can we who are nothing be changed into something of great value, the riches of God’s inheritance? It is because God is doing an amazing work, not just in our lives, but also in the lives of all his saints. We are being changed in the same way a oyster makes a pearl. From a grain of worthless sand, the oyster fashions a pearl: something of great value made from something of no value. Only God can do this work. He is accomplishing this feat through His Holy Spirit. What a wondrous miracle the Father is performing when He changes His church, His inheritance, from sinful human beings to saints! It is beyond our comprehension.

Father, thank You for making us Christ’s inheritance. Only You could take us from worthlessness to treasure. We know we are so unworthy, yet you have looked down upon us with your mercy and compassion. May we always yield ourselves to your Holy Spirit, so that you will be able change us into a glorious jewel, part of your glorious inheritance!
